Heatwave Intensifies in Lahore and Punjab as Temperatures Rise Across Region

Key Points:

  • Heat intensity is expected to increase in Lahore and across Punjab.
  • Pakistan Meteorological Department has warned of rising temperatures.
  • Southern Punjab may witness extreme heat conditions in the coming days.
  • Authorities have advised citizens to avoid unnecessary outdoor exposure.
  • Experts warn that urban areas like Lahore may feel hotter due to pollution and concrete infrastructure.

Heatwave Expected to Intensify Across Lahore and Punjab

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast a significant rise in temperatures across Lahore and various districts of Punjab, with heatwave conditions likely to intensify over the next few days. Authorities have urged citizens to remain cautious as hot and dry weather continues to dominate the region.

Lahore Likely to Experience Severe Heat

Weather officials stated that Lahore is expected to face extremely hot conditions, with temperatures climbing above seasonal averages. Due to heavy urbanization, traffic congestion, and air pollution, the city may feel even hotter than nearby rural areas.

Experts say the β€œurban heat island effect” is contributing to higher temperatures in major cities, making daily life difficult for residents during peak afternoon hours.

Southern Punjab at Higher Risk

According to officials, southern districts of Punjab are more vulnerable to severe heatwave conditions. In some areas, temperatures may rise between 43Β°C and 45Β°C, while certain regions could experience even higher temperatures during intense heat spells.

The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has already issued heatwave alerts and advised departments to stay prepared for emergency situations.

Citizens Advised to Take Precautions

Authorities have recommended people avoid direct sunlight, especially during afternoon hours, and increase water intake to prevent dehydration and heat-related illnesses. Children, elderly individuals, and people with health conditions have been identified as the most vulnerable groups.

Residents are also being encouraged to limit unnecessary travel and use protective measures while outdoors.

Short Summary:

Punjab, including Lahore, is expected to face intensified heatwave conditions as temperatures continue to rise above normal levels. Weather authorities and disaster management officials have issued warnings and advised citizens to take precautionary measures against extreme heat.
