🔥 The Attack
A remote-controlled bomb blast rocked Turbat city in Balochistan on Monday, injuring six people, including five Levies Force personnel, after it targeted the convoy of Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kech, Major (Retd) Bashir Barech.
According to SSP Kech Captain (Retd) Zohaib Mohsin, the explosion occurred on Press Club Road, where the explosive device had been planted inside a motorcycle. The bomb was detonated remotely just as the DC’s convoy was passing.
“The DC narrowly escaped the attack. One of his vehicles suffered severe damage,” the SSP told reporters. 🚓
The injured — five Levies officers and one civilian — were quickly shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment. 💉
🕵️ Investigation Underway
Police and Frontier Corps (FC) personnel immediately cordoned off the area, collecting evidence and beginning an investigation into the terror incident.
No group has yet claimed responsibility.
Authorities believe the attack was part of a wider pattern of assaults targeting law enforcement and administrative officials in Balochistan.
⚠️ Rising Terror Wave in Pakistan
Pakistan has faced a significant surge in terrorist activity in recent months, especially in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan.
Most incidents have targeted security forces, police convoys, and government installations.
The escalation followed the Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) ending its ceasefire with the government in 2022 — leading to a wave of renewed violence.
🗣️ Government’s Response
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, while addressing the Balochistan Workshop in Islamabad, recently expressed deep concern over the resurgence of terrorism.
He called for urgent national reflection on “the reasons that led to the unrest” and pledged full support to the province’s security forces.
