Detailed Article:

Pakistan has strongly condemned Israeli military actions in southern Lebanon during an emergency meeting of the United Nations Security Council.

Speaking at the meeting, Pakistan’s Deputy Permanent Representative to the UN, Ambassador Usman Jadoon, reaffirmed Islamabad’s support for Lebanon’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Jadoon said Lebanon was a nation known for its cultural diversity and resilience, but warned that renewed hostilities were putting civilian lives and national stability at serious risk.

He stated that Pakistan strongly condemned Israel’s continued military aggression in southern Lebanon, noting that the attacks had caused significant civilian casualties and widespread displacement.

According to figures shared during the meeting, hundreds of civilians have been killed, including women and children, while more than 600,000 people have been forced to leave their homes.

United Nations officials reported that nearly 700,000 residents have been displaced within just over a week due to Israeli air strikes and evacuation warnings issued across several Lebanese villages.

Jadoon stressed that the destruction of civilian infrastructure and violations of international humanitarian law must stop immediately.

He also emphasised that the use of force within Lebanon should remain the responsibility of the Lebanese state through its constitutional institutions, particularly the Lebanese Armed Forces.

The Pakistani envoy also condemned attacks on United Nations peacekeepers operating under the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon, calling for their safety and protection at all times.

He further described Israeli military activities inside Lebanese territory as illegal and called for the immediate and unconditional withdrawal of Israeli forces from occupied areas.

Jadoon urged the international community to support the full implementation of United Nations Security Council Resolution 1701 and respect the Blue Line that separates Israel and Lebanon.

He concluded by stressing that diplomacy and negotiations must take priority over confrontation to prevent further escalation in the Middle East.

Pakistan, he said, stands firmly with the government and people of Lebanon and supports efforts to restore peace and stability in the region.
